With this application, it is claimed that users can work more freely, become more productive and are able to work together in a variety of new an innovative ways…but does the practice live up to the theory?

Before we continue, however, we must first inform readers that we are not selling this product and any information we give should be taken as nothing more than helpful advice from people that can translate the technical jargon into basic pros and cons.

Look and feel

Acting as a bridge between personal and business mobile communication, the UC-One Connect is clever software based tool that was designed specifically for use on mobile devices and very much mimics the aesthetic of popular social media applications such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Much like the aforementioned examples, UC-One provides users with a super simple one-click to chat and call feature as well as group chat, presence notification and even a profile picture for that extra personal touch.

For this reason, the UC-One would not look out of place on any modern mobile phone and can therefore be used interchangeably as the user easily flicks from personal to professional communication applications at the swipe of a finger or a tap of the screen.

What can it do?

With its Instant Messaging feature, the UC-One allows users to communicate with their contacts in real time to share ideas or information from any location whenever it is necessary. As well as this, UC-One also allows users to set up Virtual Meeting Rooms to aid collaboration and create an online space where multiple users can transfer files and submit live screen shares from the device they are operating on.

By Automatically Storing Chat Logs, the UC-One also prevents the loss of any important information shared in meetings and allows users to quickly search through the chat history for clarification and reference. Another benefit of this feature is that people who absent from the live meeting can easily update themselves by reading the chat log from the beginning and absorbing any important points that were made.

Also, by giving users round-the-clock Access to Corporate Directory, the UC-One gives mobile workers the freedom to continue with their business wherever they please without having to return to the office. This benefit is also strengthened by the fact that the application can be opened directly from a user’s personal phone to Make/Receive Business Calls Through a Professional Number.

What are our favourite bits?

As a mobile first application that is designed to unify communications and create a centralised contact point that aids collaboration and enhances productivity, we feel the feature that stood out most to use was the amazing, multi-purpose Instant Chat feature. As well as automatically recording all ideas shared for future reference and allowing users to collaborate from any location at any time, the UC-One chat feature is also incredibly easy to use and has taken something that was once time consuming and non-productive (i.e. weekly team meetings) and transformed it into something that can really help drive a business forward.

Who would benefit most from this phone?

Another one of the huge advantages of the UC-One Connect is that it is incredibly versatile and can be used to improve the communications of a wide variety of differed business types and sizes. As an efficient, time saving tool that allows users to use their personal mobile device separately for both private and professional communication we feel anyone that is looking for a solution that allows them to move freely without being tied to the office would benefit from this application.

How compatible is this phone?

As far as we can tell the application is compatible with most common smartphone platforms, for example iOS, Windows and Android.

Where to buy and for how much?

Broadsoft tend to sell their solution through channel partners therefore pricing may vary. However what we do know is that it’s priced per seat / per month.

What do we think?

As a tool that is built to bring all communication outlets together into one hand held device, the UC-One Connect is outstandingly effective and we would strongly recommend it to any modern businessperson. In an age where consumer social media applications such as Facebook and WhatsApp have become the fastest, easiest and most popular way for people to communicate, BroadSoft have created solution that takes all the benefits of the aforementioned and applies them to a professional business setting.
